A Fun Way to Fix Up An Old Picture Frame

Do you have a bunch of old picture frames sitting around your house that you no longer have pictures for? Well today I’m going to show you how to make those frames into beautiful decorations for your home. First you are going to cut a piece of card stock to fit the frame you want to use. Next comes of the fun part! You get to decorate your card stock any way you want. For my mine I wrote “Hello Summer” with glitter glue and letters cut out of decorative paper. I then painted the background with blue metallic paint and decorated the rest with glitter paper, mini craft gems and decorative stickers. But you can decorate with anything you want: paint, colored pencils, oil pastels, chalk, markers, stickers, decorative paper, pieces of fabric, stencils, rubber stamps, tissue paper, felt or doilies. Just make sure whatever you use is flat so card stock will fit into the frame. Once your card stock is fully decorated to your preference let it dry before adding to the...

How to Jazz Up Boring Old Seashells🐚

Do you have a bunch of old seashells sitting around that you don’t know what to do with? Maybe you found lots of seashells on a recent trip to the beach and are looking for creative, fun ways to jazz them up! Well never fear, Colleen is here with three great ideas to turn your boring old seashells into beautiful display pieces. And the best part? You don’t have to be a great artist to make these yourself, anyone can do this with supplies they may have sitting around their house. So let’s get started!! The first and easiest way to use old seashells is to display them in see through or open faced containers:   I used a variety of different containers to display my shells. You can also display your shells in any container or box just with the lid off or propped open. Just ...

How to Make Homemade Stickers

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here. But I did a fun art project today and decided to post instructions for it on here. It was super easy and would be a great project to do with kids. So here it is, how to make your own stickers. Here is what you will need: Drawing paper (I recommend thinner paper for this) Markers and/or colored pencils A sheet of wax paper Packaging tape Scissors Step 1: Take your drawing paper and draw whatever designs on it you want for your stickers. It might be easiest to draw with a regular pencil first and then color your designs in with markers or colored pencils. You can also outline your designs with a black marker to make them stand out more. Be creative and make whatever you want. You can do your name in bubble letters, simple designs such as hearts and stars or even seasonal designs for holidays, such as pumpkins, Easter eggs or a Christmas tree. Step 2: Take a pair of scissors and cut out your designs.  Step 3: Take your sheet...

Winter Felt Creations

I created these fun winter shapes for my friends out of felt. For the snowman I drew a basic snowman shape on white felt and cut it out. Next I cut some blue felt into a semi circle and glued it on the snowman’s head for a hat. For the scarf I just drew a scarf shape on the same blue felt, cut it out and glued it on the snowman’s neck. I then glued a pom pom ball to the top of the hat and a snowflake sequin to the snowman’s body for decoration. I also added some small dots to the hat and scarf with acrylic paint. Once everything was dry my last step was drawing on the buttons and carrot nose with black and orange markers and then adding my friend’s names with a purple marker. For the cup of hot cocoa I drew a cup shape on a piece of magenta felt. For the cocoa part I cut a semi circle out of some light brown material I had and glued it to the top of the cup. For the marshmallows I dipped a small sponge brush in white paint and stamped it onto the cocoa. I also ...

How to Create a Fairy Garden

Every spring I enjoy creating a fairy garden, which is pretty much a small outdoor world in a pot that is the perfect size for fairies. This is a fun project anyone can create and it looks beautiful outdoors on a patio or a porch. Here is a step by step tutorial on how to make a fairy garden of your own.  1. First choose the right flower pot for the job. It should be one that is bigger and wider on top so you have plenty of room for plants and decor. 2. Decide on a theme. I would highly recommend having a theme in mind first before you choose your plants and decor. There are a variety of different themes you can choose for your garden. In the past I have done tea party, beach, castle, gnomes and unicorns. My current fairy garden is camp ground themed. You can also create one based on a favorite movie or book series. I once had a Pocahontas themed fairy garden which was really cool!  3. Pick your plants. Once you have your theme it’s time to go plant shopping. There are ...
